About the Federal Republic of Nigeria

UmunnaThe most populous (over 110 million people) and one of the most politically significant nations in Africa.

Nigeria is situated on the west coast of the continent by the banks of the Atlantic Ocean. It occupies 356,669 square miles (923,768 square kilometers).

Bounded by Benin, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and the Gulf of Guinea, it extends some 900 miles (1,450 kilometers) from the semiarid savanna gasslands in the north to the humid tropical rain forests of the southern and coastal regions.

Nigeria's capital is the newly built city of Abuja located near the center of the country.
